Dental X-rays

What are Dental X-rays?

Dental x-rays are helpful in allowing us to see everything going on below the surface of your smile. You can expect x-rays to be taken at the majority of your appointments, since they are a critical part of keeping your mouth healthy. We use the latest technology in our office, which offers safer x-rays that use a minimal amount of radiation. Most patients are good candidates for x-rays and can benefit from having them taken.

Why are Dental X-rays needed?

We will often take x-rays at any and all of your checkup visits as a way to keep track of your oral health and to monitor changes. If you’re a new patient without x-rays, we will recommend having a full set taken at your first appointment. We will take x-rays prior to oral surgeries, root canals and orthodontic treatment. X-rays are typically taken at emergency appointments so that we can identify the problem.

What Happens During The Dental X Ray Process

Who is a good candidate for Dental X-rays?

We use the latest technology available for dental x-rays. This delivers quicker and safer x-rays for our patients. A small amount of radiation is needed to develop the highly-detailed images that we will use in conjunction with your care. Most patients who need x-rays can and should have them taken.

What happens during the Dental X-ray process?

We begin by placing a lead apron over your body to protect you. We then place a small device in your mouth and angle the actual machine that takes the x-ray at the device. The x-ray is taken and the device moved to another area of the mouth. The process is incredibly quick and easy, and we work to make it as comfortable as possible for you. Once developed and available, we will review your x-rays and help to create a personalized treatment plan that is right for you. You can request a copy of your dental x-rays at any time.

If you would like to come into the office for new dental x-rays, call us now and we can get you in for a quick and convenient appointment.
