What are Dental Bridges?
A dental bridge is specifically designed to replace one or more missing teeth within the mouth. Bridge work is natural-looking and helps to restore original function to your smile. Most fixed bridges can last for years and even decades with the proper care. Your bridge can be placed in any area of the mouth where you’re missing dentition.
Why are Dental Bridges needed?
The reason you may need a bridge is because you’re completely missing a tooth. Bridges are often great alternatives for patients who aren’t good candidates for dental implants. The bridge offers both cosmetic and restorative benefits, since it enhances your smile while improving the way you’re able to eat and chew. Because bridges are custom made for each patient, they look completely natural and realistic after being placed.
Who is a candidate for a Dental Bridge?
We can examine your teeth and mouth to determine if you may benefit from a dental bridge. If you’re unable to or do not want a dental implant, bridge work is a fantastic alternative when it comes to replacing missing teeth. Most patients who need a bridge can sit for the procedure in our office. The bridge procedure requires no incisions or sutures like other treatment options.
What happens during the Dental Bridge procedure?
We begin by numbing the area with an anesthetic. The next step is to file down the two adjacent teeth so that there is ample room for the new bridge. Impressions are taken and used to craft the new fixed bridge. You’ll come in for a second visit to have the permanent bridge placed. We will adjust the fit and bite of your new restoration before you’re able to leave the office. Your new bridge can last for many years or decades with the proper care. You can and should still brush and floss around the fixed bridge to keep it healthy and clean.
